Who We Are
Nik Robinson has been working in environmental and chemical regulation for more than 16 years, and has particular expertise in chemical and environmental assessment modelling.
Industrial experience - Nik worked with Nalco Champion part of Ecolab in the Global Substance Team, mainly dealing with REACH and REACH-like legislation around the globe. Nik has registered substances, and managed and compiled dossiers. In 2013 he set up a Black Belt project to agree the company-wide REACH registration strategy for the 2018 deadline. This included putting processes in place to decide and agree which substances to support, as well as a Lean Six Sigma efficiency assessment of the internal registration process to increase the team's capacity.
Consultancy experience - Nik worked with a large oil and gas industry consultancy in the North East of Scotland. Completing PON15 submissions as well as Environmental Impact Assessments and combustion installation assessments for the PPC regulation.
Regulator experience - Nik worked with the Environment Agency, in the Chemical Assessment Unit that dealt with NONS & ESRs, the predecessor legislation to REACH. Nik also spent some time with the Direct Toxicity Assessment team that used WET/RBA approaches to effluent discharge screening, and developed the UK's endocrine disrupting substances tiered approach for targeted risk assessment.
Nik also worked with SEPA, completing site audits of PPC & IPPC permitted processes and as a Human Health Scientist, developed various Environmental Quality Standards (EQSs) for discharge consenting.
Qualifications - Nik has a Degree in Chemistry with Management and an Engineering Doctorate in probabilistic risk assessment from Brunel University. Nik is a Chartered Scientist and member of the Charted Institute of Water and Environmental Management and is also trained as a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma process optimisation and project management.

In particular our experience in the requirements of chemical and environmental legislation for the oil and gas industry and the chemical industry, and methods and models used to meet a company's obligations will help to ensure your business meets its obligations in the most efficient way possible.
NIKAM Consulting also provides the secretarial function for EOSCA the European Oilfield Speciality Chemicals Association. The Association provides a forum for oilfield speciality chemical companies, and their support industries to meet and discuss developments of a technical and/or statutory nature concerning the application of chemicals in the oil and gas industry.
